Good music and packing

 Hello everyone,

I have to say I’m so glad I got to see Jackson Browne. I’ve been wanting to see him forever and it was worth it to finally see him.

We spent the night after the show in Indy and then while farting around in Noblesville, I ran across this.

Which I thought was kind of cool. Unfortunately, like many small town businesses it closed and the building is for sale.

The next night we saw Josh Groban, it was good but, not really my cup of tea.

Got home on Friday and started the arduous task of packing to go to Hawaii. We got a really good deal and decided to go with some friends who own a timeshare. We don’t have to pay for a room and the flights weren’t terrible so, off we go.

In between I did get one of the rims for the bike painted and also one of the hubs. I decided to go with black rims and chrome spokes and I think it will look pretty good. When I get back I’m going to take all the wheels to a guy and get them all undone and then clean, blast, and paint all the parts and then take them back to him and have it all put back together.

After that I’m going to sandblast and paint the frame of the bike. I do have on little bit of welding to do on the neck. I need a pin for the steering damper knob to key on. After the frame is painted I’m going to start on the engine!

I’m hoping to start on the engine before the end of July. If, and it’s a big if, that all happens I might be able to get it at least running by late fall. I’m hoping……

Well, I think that’s all for now.

Survival then fun

 Hello everyone,

Managed to survive the grandkids visit, actually had a blast. Then I packed up and headed to Tennessee to see my youngest for his birthday/ Father’s Day.

Kind of just laid around the first night and did nothing. On my way down I stopped in Bowling Green and visited a very good friend of mine that I’ve known for 50 years, had a great afternoon.

Friday we went and hit golf balls for a couple of hours.

It’s been about 5 years since I’ve had a golf club in my hand so it was far from pretty, the son did much better!

Saturday we went back up to Bowling Green for the Hot Rod Reunion and watched racing all day and took in some of the show and shine.

The car in the bottom pic reminds me of the car my cousin Shop Teacher Bob is building! It’s going to be very cool. I tried to insert his blog spot thing but I couldn’t figure it out!

Anyway, on Sunday morning we ordered food from a place in Franklin that specializes in biscuits! Man I love that place!! After that I packed up and headed home.

Managed to get a little bike work done, I had a rim and a hub that was already apart and I got it all sandblasted and sanded down and got some primer on those pieces.

Tonight we’re going to Indy to see Jackson Browne and then staying and seeing Josh Groben , tomorrow night. Don’t know how much work I’ll get done on the bike in the next couple of weeks but, we’ll see.

Well, I think that’s all for now.

Bands and babysitters

 Hello everyone,

We’ll, we went to the concert on Friday night, really good show. When we were looking for tickets I knew I had heard of Loverboy but I couldn’t remember any of their songs. Turns out they had a few I knew. The crowd was really into all three of the bands and that made for a really fun evening!

After spending the night in the parking lot of the venue in Diego, we came home and then drove up and picked up the grandkids.

So far we’re holding up pretty well, but it’s only been about 36 hours!! LOL! We’ve been golf cart riding, 4 wheeler riding, football throwing, and the wife has taken the granddaughter to the gym and to try to add to her community service list. Apparently that is some new thing her high school requires for graduation! Kind of cool. Went to the movies last night, and today were supposed to go swimming at a friend’s pool.

If we survive until tomorrow that will be pretty amazing, I’m sure we will. After that on Thursday I go to my youngest son’s house for a visit on his birthday and then Father’s Day is Sunday. Should be a fun trip.

Well, I think that’s all for now.

Moving along a little bit

 Hello everyone,

I managed to strip the bike down and got all the welding repairs done. I think maybe next week I’ll be able to start putting paint on it. After several phone calls to different shops I think I found someone to unlace and lace up the wheels for me. If I can get them up to their shop early next week maybe I can have them done before we leave on our next big trip. That would be wonderful!

We’re going to take the bicycles out for some riding today, probably just to town and ride around some. We need to start practicing the loading and unloading of them.

The bike rack is a pretty ingenious piece of work and it’s not really hard to put them on on and off. The back rack itself though is almost a two man job!

Well, I think that’s all for now, oh, we’re supposed to go to a concert this weekend, Styx and REO Speedwagon, should be fun!

Slightly strange things

 Hello everyone,

Well, we got past the party, it was really fun actually.

The band was fun, our kind of music, and the wife with “the belle of the ball”!

Yesterday I stripped the bike all down and am ready to start repairing the frame and sand blasting and painting.

Yesterday afternoon before the big rain got ready to unload on us, the wife looked out the front door and found this on our porch.

That ladies and gentlemen is a fox. I have no idea why it was sitting on our front porch, but it stayed there for about 15 minutes or so. It acted like it was afraid of the storm, not sure though.

Also yesterday I went up to” Shop Teacher Bob’s “ place and picked up my bushing.

Ended up shooting the shit with him for a couple of hours! We only live about 12 miles from each other but, we don’t get to see each other that often, so it was nice chatting with him.

We had a new internet service installed about a month or so ago and it’s wireless. So the last few days it’s been spotty delivering into the house. So, it turns out it’s “line of sight service to the tower”. So we ended up spending today cutting down some scrub trees in a brush stand at the front of the property.

Now that the internet is more stable and we got a little head start on firewood for the winter, all is good!

Well, I think that’s all for now.

Cabinet is done

 Hello everyone,

Finished the cabinet up on Monday and got it installed in the van.

Ended up fitting really nicely and will hold the extra’s we think we might need on the extra long trips.

Had a dentist appointment today and my teeth should be ready in about three weeks. I’ve been a “toothless idiot” for about 3 months and I can hardly wait!

This afternoon I had a visit from an old friend and his wife. They live in Texas and were coming up for our class reunion and got the news his younger brother had passed away. They’ve been up helping their niece get some of the family things get squared away and are leaving tomorrow. It was a very nice visit, had some pizza, and shot the shit for about 4-5 hours.

Back to reality tomorrow, truly we’re about ready for the party. I have mowing to do and a few outside touch ups, the wife wants the house cleaned and a few other things and then setups on Saturday. Truth is I can hardly wait until it’s over so I can get back on the bike. I’d like to have the frame all done by the middle of June, and then I have to find someone to unlace and relace the wheels. I MAY give it a try but don’t know if I can, we’ll see. I need them apart so I can paint the rims and then I think chrome spokes with black hubs. That’s the vision at the moment, anyway.

Well, I think that’s all for now.
