Trippin’

 Hello everyone,

Well,  we got the laundry room project completed except for the trim. It looks really nice. My middle son is finishing up the trim this week.

The wife and I left Wednesday to go see her brothers in Arizona. We’re still driving today, it’s been a struggle to drive there so far. The wind has been 30-40 miles an hour just about the whole way there. This morning we’re in Texas just west of Amarillo. Hopefully we’ll be there Sunday morning.

The wind has been either a headwind or a crosswind and it’s been tough driving. Since I’m doing the driving, it’s been wearing me out by seven or eight hours worth. I’ve slept well, but it’s taking it’s toll.

Last night the van was rocking all night long, the wife didn’t sleep too well thinking we were going to tip over! This morning the wind is still blowing but it’s changed direction to a head wind and not quite as brisk.

Should be able to get to Arizona by tonight, maybe not to her brother’s place but a lot closer.

Still closer and a clean shop

 Hello everyone,

Almost at the finish line for the laundry room, about 1 more day laying tile and trim.

Pictures next week. My youngest son is coming home for Easter and I’d like to be completely finished by then.

Spent the entire day yesterday cleaning ( deep) the shop. Sunday we pulled all the scraps and cutoffs out of the shop and the barn and had a big fire.i

Saved all the big pieces and restacked in the barn. Then, yesterday completely cleaned the shop and I mean completely. It hasn’t been this clean probably since I started working on it.

It’s so nice to have it cleaned up. I’ll probably bring the bike back over next week, and hopefully get started on it the following week.

Closer yet

 Hello everyone,

Managed to get 1/2 the laundry room together. Washer and dryer in and connected up. Some of the cabinetry put back up too.

All that’s left is the tile for the area in the top pic. Put the shoe back on, one cabinet and some foo foo stuff the wife likes on the walls. She wants some more barn wood shelves next to the one on the left in the bottom pic and I’ll get to that after it’s all back together.

I still need to take the toilet off and replace the closet flange, the bridge by the pond needs some of the decking replaced, and the shop needs cleaning up badly. I’ll start on one of those projects today and see how much I can get done this week.

Not quite finished

 Hello everyone, 

Well, we managed to get all the wainscoting installed, some of the underlayment put down and about 1/2 the tile is laid down.

 

We should be finished by Tuesday. Hoping to get the washer and dryer back in this afternoon and all hooked up. Bought all new hoses, just in case. After the cause of all of this work, thought we should.

I finally addressed a small problem on Diego that both the wife and I wanted fixed. When I installed the running board on the right side, it didn’t stick out quite far enough for you to put your foot on comfortably. I’ve been pondering the fix for awhile now, and found some angle iron I had from the shipping crate for my chipper. Anyway, I cut it into roughly 6 1/2” pieces, laid out and drilled some holes in them, and fitted it up. Moved them out about 1 1/2-2” and they seem quite comfortable now. Took them back off and ground them down and painted them up. Actually still painting them up this morning.

It’s supposed to be kind of nice here this week, so outside cleaning will probably commence this week. It’s getting time to service the tractor, sharpen the blades and all that. I’ll get to that in a week or so.

I almost forgot, the grandson was down for an overnight and the wife made a “treasure hunt” up for him( he’s 8 and too old for an Easter egg hunt!).  He had some fun and so did we following him around.

 Hello everyone,

Here are some of the pics I promised from the van and the bathroom/ mud room/ laundry room project.

These are the pics of the mostly finished van. 3 1/2 months from start to almost finished! Mostly trim and a little painting and some carpet covering on some of the metal still showing. Like to have it done this month so we can be relaxed on the next trip. 

These are the pics of the bathroom/ mud room which is almost completely finished except for some trim in the closet and where the floor is going into the laundry room.

The floor turned out very nice. Now the last two pics are the wainscoting that’s going in the laundry room. It’s painted except for about another twenty or so boards. Not enough sawhorses to paint them all at once.

I’ll post the pics of it finished end of this week or next week.

After this I want to finish up the van and give the shop a really good cleaning. After that, I’ll push the bike back over in the shop and start working on it again. There’s other projects all over the property to do, got a mountain of mulch, cleaning leaves out of the garden, patching and sealing the driveway, painting the barn, the list goes on and on. In between I’m going to finish that bike come he’ll or high water!!

95% Finished and thoroughly tested

 Hello everyone,

Just like it says, just a few trim pieces and some painting touch ups and the van project is(hopefully) done. 

Just came back from an 8 day excursion to Florida and everything performed well, except the toilet leaked( future repair) and on the last night in a severe thunderstorm the roof fan leaked ( look into it in a few days).

The trip was very fun, spent time with the oldest son and his family, and stopped in Tennessee the last day and visited the youngest son.

Now that the van is pretty finished I have to start working on the bathroom and laundry room project. Hopefully done with that in a week or so.

When I get back in the swing of things I’ll post some pics of the van and the house project.
